President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has received a delegation led by the Governor of Saint Petersburg, Georgy Poltavchenko.
President Aliyev noted that bilateral relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation are successfully developing in all areas, including in the political, economic, humanitarian and other spheres, stressing that the visit of Poltavchenko created a good opportunity for strengthening future cooperation with Saint Petersburg.
Ilham Aliyev stressed the importance of mutual visits and meetings, especially the Russian-Azerbaijani Inter-regional forum held in Yekaterinburg, emphasizing the need to strengthen regional cooperation against the background of such a positive relationship.
Governor Georgy Poltavchenko, who was born in Baku, said that the city has been rapidly developing.
The delegation has visited the Alley of Honor to lay a wreath at the tomb of Azerbaijan's national leader, Heydar Aliyev. They also placed flowers at the grave of the prominent ophthalmologist, academician Zarifa Aliyeva.
