Hulusi Akar appointed new Chief of Turkish General Staff

Hulusi Akar, has been appointed as the new Chief of the General Staff of the Turkish Armed Forces. He had been the land forces commander of Turkish armed forces since 2013.

General Salih Zeki Çolak filled Akar's position as the new Commander of the Turkish Land Forces, Milliyet newspaper reports.

The former Chief of the General Staff of the Turkish Armed Forces, Necdet Ozel, resigned due to health problems. He was appointed the Chief of the Turkish General Staff on August 4th 2011, Trend reports.
