President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and first vice-president of Azerbaijan, the republic's first lady, president of Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva expresses condolences over the death of legendary Russian singer and People’s Artist of the Soviet Union Joseph Kobzon.
President Aliyev has extended his condolences to the Kobzon family. "I was deeply saddened by the news of Josep Davidovich Kobzon's death. I extend my sincere condolences to you and to all the relatives and friends of Joseph Davydovich on behalf of the people of Azerbaijan and on my own," the head of state's letter reads.
Ilham Aliyev stressed that the title of the "master singer, prominent public and political figure Joseph Kobzon has forever entered the glorious chronicles of Soviet and Russian culture." "His songs, which he read with great enthusiasm, have a special place in the hearts of many generations," he noted.
"Thanks to the multi-faceted talent, unique voice and innate musical sensation, Joseph Kobzon has become a symbol of a whole era. While she was in charge of the State Duma, she actively promoted the preservation and enrichment of cultural heritage," the Azerbaijani president noted.
"Joseph Kobzon was awarded the 'Glory' and 'Friendship' orders of the Republic of Azerbaijan for his contribution to the development of cultural relations between Azerbaijan and Russia, as well as to the Honorary Diploma of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan," he recalled.
"I express my deepest sympathy for you and your sadness in connection with this severe loss," the president's statement says.
In addition, first vice-president of Azerbaijan, the republic's first lady, president of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Mehriban Aliyeva expressed her condolences to the singer’s wife Ninel Kozbon.
