India's Essar oil imports from Iran up 8%

India's Essar Oil imported about 8.3% more Iranian oil in September compared to last year (about 132,000 barrels per day).

Iran's share in overall imports by Essar Oil in the January-September period rose to about 46% while that of Venezuela rose to about 45%. During the same period last year, the two nations accounted for about a third each of Essar's overall oil imports, Iran Daily reports.

A group led Russian oil giant Rosneft in August agreed to acquire 98% stake in Essar Oil and associated port and power plant for about $13 billion, including debt.
