The international memorial event ‘We are millions of Panfilovs’, the anniversary of the historic Battle of Moscow and the legendary heroism of the soldiers of the Panfilov division in November 1941, started in Yekaterinburg today.
Recall, the international Memory Watch was launched in October 2015 in Orenburg. Then, the standard of the battle was delivered to Chelyabinsk, Novosibirsk and Almaty. Yekaterinburg became the fifth city to take part in the watch. It will end with the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the battle for Moscow in the autumn of 2016. In Almaty, the granddaughters of General Panfilov gave the standard to Yekaterinburg.
The ceremony is attended by the heads of the district and the region, the leadership of the Central Military District, diplomatic representatives of the citizens of the Central Asian Republics, veterans' and social organizations, as well as members of the search group 'Styx' of the Ural State Pedagogical University.
