Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi held talks over the phone on Monday with Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to discuss cooperation between the two countries during this year's World Cup tournament in Qatar.
Raisi wished success for the Gulf nation in hosting the high-status event, the Iranian Presidency said in a statement.
"The Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to provide Qatar with whatever assistance and help it needs to better and more magnificently host World Cup fixtures through Kish Island and other islands nearby,” the statement read.
Tamim, for his part, said Qatari Minister of Transport and Communications Jassim bin Saif Al Sulaiti and Iranian Minister of Roads and Urban Development Rostam Qasemi will soon meet to discuss cooperation for the 2022 FIFA World Cup matches.
Qatar is hosting the FIFA World Cup 2022 tournament on November 21, the first Arab nation and Middle Eastern country to host the prestigious event.
