 Iranian president refuses to accept foreign minister's resignation

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has rejected the resignation of the country’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, saying it is not in the Islamic Republic’s interests.

"As the supreme leader has described you a ‘trustworthy, brave and religious’ person in the forefront of the resistance against widespread U.S. pressure, I consider accepting your resignation to be against national interests and reject it," Rouhani said in a letter published on state news agency IRNA.

Zarif gave no reason for his decision to quit when he announced it on Instagram on Monday.

In the interview with Jomhoori Eslami Zarif that partisan disputes over foreign policy were "a deadly poison."
