Deputy Chairperson of the Federation Council Committee on Agrifood Policy and Environmental Management, representative of the executive body of the Chelyabinsk region in the Federation Council Irina Hecht, speaking with the correspondent of Vestnik Kavkaza, welcomed Azerbaijan's unanimous support of the return of Russia's delegation to PACE.
First of all, she emphasized the friendly relations between Russian and Azerbaijani politicians in PACE. "In fact, we are very friendly. Unlike NATO countries, which vote collectively on the CSTO countries under the auspices of the United States, Russia does not put pressure on its partners, such as Azerbaijan, but at the same time receives their support," the senator said.
"The Azerbaijani delegation is one of the few in PACE constantly supporting us. Therefore, we need to thank Azerbaijan very much for the unanimous support it always give us during the voting. Sometimes delegations want to please both sides but Azerbaijanis voted for Russia on all issues," Irina Hecht noted.
She added that the PACE regularly holds discussions on the Nagorno-Karabakh settlement. "This is a constant discussion with Armenia that has been underway for many many years. There is no compromise yet," the Deputy Chairperson of the Federation Council Committee on Agrifood Policy and Environmental Management stated.
