Juncker: EU security depends on Russia

The European Union will reach long-term security only in cooperation with Moscow, European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker said in a speech to Austrian parliament.

Despite anything that happens in Russia, the Europeans shouldn't forget that they are neighbors with the country, the European Commission President said.

He stressed that the European Union remained committed to the Iran nuclear deal, adding that "We are in intensive talks with Americans about it," Sputnik reported.

Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz said earlier that the energy supply of Europe cannot be imagined without Russia.

Juncker's comments come on the heels of Dutch Defense Minister Ank Bijleveld's claim that four Russian citizens with diplomatic passports have been expelled from the Netherlands on April 13 on suspicion of an attempted cyberattack on the OPCW. The UK Foreign Office, in turn, accused Russia's foreign intelligence service GRU of cyber attacks on political institutions, enterprises, media and sports.
