Kazakhstan's Balkhash communications center will strengthen the defense capability of Russia and will also be based on the joint regional air defense-missile defense system of Russia and Kazakhstan, the chief of the Main Department of International Military Cooperation of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, Sergei Koshelev, assessed the entry into force of the Intergovernmental Agreement on the transfer of the use of the radio engineering unit.
An agreement was reached between the two countries in the autumn of 2015. It is worth noting that the agreement actually extends the use of the Balkhash unit located in the Karaganda region of Kazakhstan by the Russian military, TASS reports.
