Kremlin comments on possibility of Putin-Trump meeting

The Kremlin has nothing to say about Russian President Vladimir Putin's meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump, the Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

Responding to media reports that Putin's meeting with Trump may take place next month, Peskov said that the Kremlin has "nothing to say yet, and if and when we are ready we will make the relevant statement."

Peskov noted that Trump's national security adviser John Bolton is to visit Russia, the AP reported.

Asked to comment on Interfax report that Bolton is due to visit Russia next week as part of preparations for a U.S.-Russian summit, the spokesman confirmed Bolton's expected visit to Moscow but refrained from further comment.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, in turn, said that "we are ready for contacts," adding that "if the agreement on a high-level meeting is reached, it will be announced."
