Kyrgyz President signs law on constitutional referendum

The President of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev signed the law on holding the referendum to amend the Kyrgyz Constitution, which will be held on December 11, the website of the President said.

The reforms would strengthen the powers of the prime minister. The amendments also include provisions granting more powers to the cabinet and to leaders of parliamentary factions.

Yesterday, Kyrgyzstan's parliament approved the bill on holding the referendum to amend the Kyrgyz Constitution.
