Russian, Syrian and Iranian Foreign Ministers Sergey Lavrov, Walid Muallem and Mohammad Javad Zarif will discuss efforts to launch the negotiation process on Syria during a trilateral meeting today, the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry said, opening talks with Iran’s top diplomat.
Zarif, in turn, noted that Russia and Iran share a common position on combating terrorism and extremism. "We hope this stance will remain unchanged in the future," TASS cited him as saying.
Zarif added that there has been a significant progress in all areas of the Russian-Iranian relations.
