Moscow will not allow the North Atlantic Alliance to entangle it into a senseless confrontation, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said during a lecture at the Mongolian Foreign Ministry.
"We see an unprecedented military buildup since the end of the Cold War and the presence of NATO on the so-called eastern flank of the alliance with the goal of exerting military and political pressure on Russia for containing it. All this comes along with a propaganda campaign on demonizing Russia," TASS cited him as saying.
NATO "is busy searching for an enemy to assign a meaning to its further existence," Lavrov stressed. "Russia does not plan and will not be drawn into a senseless confrontation and is convinced that there is no reasonable alternative to mutually beneficial all-European cooperation in the area of security based on the principle of indivisibility of security relying on the international law," he said.
