Today Mahar Vaziev officially took up his new post as the ballet director at the Bolshoi Theatre. He replaced Sergei Filin, whose contract ended yesterday.
"Sergei Filin will remain at the Bolshoi Theatre and will head the choreographers workshop," the Bolshoi general director Vladimir Urin said.
In addition, he spoke about the current activities of the group. "We will show the premiere titled 'Modern Choreography Night' on the historical stage of the theater. Then Vyacheslav Samodurov will choreograph the ballet 'Ondine', we are preparing for our tour to England," Urin noted. Recall, the new ballet director at the Bolshoi Theatre graduated from the Academy of Russian Ballet, he was also the head of Italy's La Scala in Russia.
