Mahmoud Abbas wants to leave politics

The Head of the Palestinian National Authority (PNA), Mahmoud Abbas, has announced his intention to leave politics.

The source said that Abbas expressed this commitment during a meeting of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), Xinhua news agency reports.

Earlier, media reported about the resignation of Abbas (from the post of head of the Executive Committee of the PLO) and nine other members of the board. However, according to the official representative of the Palestinian ruling party Fatah PLO, Fayz Abu Aita, it is only a technical move, which is required to convene an extraordinary congress of the Palestinian National Council.
