The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, said that the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict remains one of the priorities of Russia’s foreign policy.
Moscow urges the parties to the conflict to renounce the use of force and have the political will to reach a compromise, she said.
"Unfortunately, the resumption of political dialogue is complicated by the worsening situation in the conflict zone, the increase in the number of causalities and the killing of civilians. We believe that further escalation is unacceptable," the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry noted, calling on the sides "to refuse to use force but to show the political will to reach a compromise."
"We are closely working with the US and France in this regard. Recently, on the sidelines of the 70th session of the UN General Assembly, the Russian Foreign Minister held a meeting with the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs. They discussed practical issues of a settlement on the eve of the co-chairs’ forthcoming visit to the region this month," the correspondent of Vestnik Kavkaza cited Zakharova as saying.
