Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, who is on an official visit to Canberra, held talks with his Australian counterpart Julie Bishop.
They announced plans of Australia and Iran to develop economic cooperation.
Bishop noted that Australia's decision on the partial lifting of sanctions against Iran allows economic ties to be improved. She also announced the upcoming opening of the Australian Trade Commission (Austrade) office in Tehran and recalled that Australia, unlike other Western countries, has never closed its embassy in the Iranian capital.
"We want to cooperate with Australia. We are ready to develop the economic relations traditional for our countries and carry out mutual investments and promote cooperation in science and technology," TASS cited Zarif as saying.
