Mothers of Azerbaijani gymnasts: "We wish our girls to win at 1st Rhythmic Gymnastics Junior World Championships!"

Not only gymnasts and their coaches, but also parents of young graces came to Moscow for the first FIG Rhythmic Gymnastics Junior World Championships - the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation gave them such an opportunity to support Azerbaijani athletes at the world championship. The mothers of the future stars of Azerbaijani rhythmic gymnastics told Vestnik Kavkaza about the conditions provided by the AGF and the reasons why girls decide to do gymnastics in Azerbaijan.

Nigar Jalilova - mother of Arzu Jalilova, who performed exercises with a rope and a ball today. "Arzu started gymnastics when she was 4, I brought her there like other mothers do, for a proper posture and gait. And now we are part of big-time sports," she said.

Arzu Jalilova already won bronze in exercises with the ball at the European Championships last year. "Of course, we hope that all our girls will perform well at the World Championships. We wish them great luck and success!" Nigar Jalilova said.

Lali Samedova is the mother of Narmina Samedova, who will compete for medals in ribbon and club exercises. "We hope that this wonderful, first Junior World Championships will bring victory to us, to our team, to our country. I want to express my deep gratitude to Russia for creating such favorable conditions for holding this championship," she said in the first place.

"It is a great honor and a great joy for us to attend such an event. We wish all the girls and all countries to perform with dignity, as best they can. I wish everyone good luck!" Lali Samadova wished.

Ira Alimuradova is the mother of Laman Alimuradova, who performed as part of the team in group exercises with five hoops and five ribbons. "We wish both individuals and our group team great success! God bless them with everything for which they came here and worked all these years. Good luck!” she wished.

According to Ira Alimuradova, her daughter was very active, so they decided she should do gymnastics. "And thank God that this is paying off now," Laman Alimuradova's mother said.

Roksana Hajiyeva - the mother of Seljan Hajizade, another member of the group team. "She has been doing gymnastics since the age of four, and we can say that it's what we've been waiting for our whole lives. We are very nervous, of course. We all came here to support our girls. I think we will be proud by the performance of our girls," she said.

Afina Aliyeva is the mother of Farida Safiyarzade, who is a member of the group team, she also arrived in Moscow to support the Azerbaijani team. "I brought my daughter to the gym because she wanted it herself," she said.

The merits of the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation in the development of gymnastics in the republic cannot be overestimated. "We have created very good conditions for gymnasts in our country, and, of course, we are satisfied with our Federation and the tremendous work that it does," Afina Aliyeva stressed.

The 1st FIG Rhythmic Gymnastics Junior World Championships is being held at Luzhniki Irina Viner-Usmanova Gymnastics Palace in Moscow. The gymnasts will compete in individual program and in group exercises. In total, the gymnasts will compete for 8 medal sets. The 2019 Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships will be held in Baku on September 16-22, 2019.
