The Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis (lower house of parliament) has passed the law “On amendments and additions to some legislative acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan, which was approved by the Senate of Oliy Majlis on August 6 and signed by the President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov on August 10.
According to the law, a new form of criminal punishment - restriction of freedom (6 month - 5 years) is introduced to the amendments and additions to the Criminal, Criminal Procedural and Criminal Executive codes of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The press service of the Senate explained that the introduction of new alternative form of punishment is directed at further improvement, liberalization and humanization of criminal penalties.
