The section of the North-South corridor in Iran will be put into operation on June 20. Representatives of three countries – Russia, Azerbaijan and Iran – will take part in the opening ceremony.
The opening ceremony of the Iranian section of the North-South transport corridor from the city of Rasht to the port of Caspian will take place on June 20.
The participants of the event will be acting President of the Islamic Republic Mohammad Mokhber, as well as the head of the Ministry of Roads and Digital Development Mehrdad Bazrpash.
The ceremony will also be attended by the assistant to the Russian president and the deputy prime minister of Azerbaijan.
The length of the section from Rasht to the Caspian Port is 37 km. A loan of about 30 trillion rials was allocated for the building. The project cost 35 trillion rials.
The Iranian section is the first stage of the Rasht-Astara railway. The length of the road is 162 km. In May 2023, Russia and Iran entered into an agreement on joint construction.
