The deputies of the lower house of the Kazakh parliament unanimously elected Nurlan Nigmatulin as the new Speaker during the first plenary meeting.
Prior to becoming the MP, Nigmatulin has served as the head of the President's Administration in Nursultan Nazarbayev's office.
Nazarbayev has proposed his candidacy for the seat of the Speaker yesterday. Nigmatulin candidacy was unanimously supported by 102 MPs.
Previous Speaker Baktykozha Izmukhambetov left the post on June 21 to become the Chairman of the republican public association 'Organization of Veterans'.
