Today is the 75th birthday of Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev.
"Thanks to Allah, we have peace in our country," the leader of Kazakhstan told TASS. According to him, "even presidential elections, which were not on anybody's plans, were held this year" and "the result, as you all know, was stunning". "It also inspires. Any politician will understand me," he said.
Nazarbayev said that our memory leaves only the brightest moments to remain from an entire life, all secondary things are forgotten. "There were difficult times, but on the other hand, it was an exciting time, which another generation of Kazakh people will never experience. I was not only the witness of the independence of my country, but also one of the creators of it."
Nazarbayev said that "he was behind the construction of the first Kazakh state in history in today's understanding." "Of course, the main thing that I could do it with my associates, together with the people of Kazakhstan," he said. "But to declare independence, to win independence and to preserve it are not the same things. It is also important to preserve independence and to strengthen the country. And we did this too."
According to tradition, Nazarbayev celebrates his birthday with his people, taking part in numerous events in Astana on the occasion of the Day of Capital City. This year, it more than 70 events are expected to be held. The head of state has already listened to 'Aida', staged by Russian director Yuri Alexandrov, he has visited the finals of the tournament of national wrestling 'Kazakhstan Barysy' and an open golf tournament. Yesterday, Nazarbayev together with his Kyrgyz counterpart, Almazbek Atambayev, and former Turkish President Abdullah Gul visited a laser-pyrotechnic show on the River Ishim.
