Pashinyan: CSTO Secretary General candidacy not to be discussed on December 6

The issue of new CSTO Secretary General will not be discussed at the upcoming Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) summit in Saint Petersburg on December 6, Armenia’s acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said.

"Since we again don’t have consensus now [on this matter], there is no sense in repeating [the CSTO leaders’ meeting in] Astana [on November 8], and it’s not constructive.

The arrangement is that we continue the working discussions until reaching any consensus," News.am cited the PM as saying.

On November 2, Armenian authorities recalled the country’s representative Yuri Khachaturov from the office of CSTO Secretary General. Khachaturov has been charged in Armenia within the framework of the criminal case into the tragic events that transpired in capital city Yerevan on March 1-2, 2008.
