People's Artist of Russia and Georgia Temur Chkheidze passed away

On Sunday, June 5, Temur Chkheidze, People's Artist of Russia and Georgia, died at the age of 78. This was reported by Rustavi 2 TV company.

"The director devoted half a century to the theatre. Temur Chkheidze is the author of about 80 drama, opera and television performances, including at the theater for teenagers", RIA Novosti reported.

Temur Chkheidze was born in Tbilisi on November 18, 1943. In 1991, he began working at the Tovstonogov Bolshoi Drama Theater in 1991. Then he was a stage director. In 2004 he became the chief director of the theatre, and in 2007 he became artistic director.

Chkheidze was awarded the Order of Honor "for his great contribution to the development of the national theatrical art and many years of creative activity."
