U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that the U.S. presidential administration will make an effort to secure Russia’s return to the G7.
Speaking with Fox News, Pompeo said that "the president thinks that’s what we should do." "I work for the president. Of course, we’re going to work towards that end," the Secretary of State added.
During a Monday news conference that followed the G7 summit, U.S. President Donald Trump said that Russia’s return to the G7 would benefit both global economy and security and declared that he would invite Russian President Vladimir Putin to the group’s next summit in 2020.
