Puitn-Trump round two to be held after sanction apocalypse

U.S. National security adviser John Bolton didn't rule out that Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit to Washington in 2019 and a return visit by U.S. President Donald Trump to Moscow.

Bolton said that the leaders' full-fledged meeting will be discussed in Paris, and at first there will be a possibility of a summit in Washington next year, after which Trump's return visit to Moscow is possible.

Trump also has extended an invitation to Putin to visit Washington, which administration officials said could yield a second full summit next year.

Earlier it was reported that both Trump and Putin are planning to be in Paris on November 11 to mark the 100th anniversary of the armistice that ended World War I, Interfax recalls.

President of the Minchenko Consulting Communication Group, Yevgeny Minchenko, speaking with the correspondent of Vestnik Kavkaza, noted that the task of this meeting will be an attempt to keep the conflict from growing after the introduction of sanctions.

"Trump is interested in removing the topic of Russian meddling in U.S. elections from public discourse. In the end, I think they may start declaring that they have agreed with Moscow and Moscow has promised not to interfere in the mid-term elections and did not interfere. However, considering the fact that the previous facts of the so-called intervention were not proved, it will be possible to interpret any events as interference. I think that's what the Democrats will do," Yevgeny Minchenko expects.

At the same time, he noted that the topic of Russia has been displaced by the Saudi agenda. "The question is of how long it will remain in the top of the American media, but at the moment the Saudis are in the spotlight."

The deputy dean of the Faculty of Global Economics and International Affairs of the Higher School of Economics of the National Research University, Andrei Suzdaltsev, stressed that meeting immediately after the introduction of "hellish sanctions" does not make any sense. "Western propaganda will present the summit as a public punishment of our president, who will be educated by the West in the person of the US president. It’s pointless to expect that the meeting will change the sanctions bias of the U.S. policy towards Russia, because this bias was already fixed in the form of laws adopted by the Congress. The previous two meetings ended with almost nothing, and I think that a third meeting will also be useless in such conditions," he expects.

Regardless of the results of the congressional elections, the Democratic Party will continue to play out the scenario of “Russian meddling in American affairs,” which also eliminates any agreement between Putin and Trump on November 11. "If the Republicans lose, Russian meddling in the elections will again be pulled out. However, even if the Republicans win, the Democrats will still use the same card. They will accuse us of meddling in the elections in any case. In fact, the United States expects only one thing from us - gradually giving up on our positions and demonstrating our readiness to make concessions," Andrey Suzdaltsev concluded.
