Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed with permanent members of the Russian Security Council the situation in Syria due to the escalation of the situation in that country's northeast, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said.
In addition, the sides exchanged opinions due to the start of work of the Syrian Constitutional Committee.
"It was emphasized that it is now important for everybody to avoid any actions which can present obstacles to the peaceful settlement in Syria," Interfax cited the spokesman as saying.
