Russian President Vladimir Putin has congratulated US President Donald Trump on Independence Day, a federal holiday in the United States, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said..
"Putin has sent a greeting telegram to Trump," TASS cited Peskov as saying.
Independence Day is annually celebrated on July 4 in the US. This year is the 242nd anniversary since the adoption of the Declaration of Independence from the United Kingdom.
The preparations for the meeting between the Russian and US presidents scheduled for July 16 in Helsinki are underway.
