 Putin discusses Nagorno-Karabakh conflict with Security Council

Russian President Vladimir Putin held an operative meeting with the permanent members of Russia's Security Council.

The meeting was attended by the Speaker of Russia’s Federation Council Valentina Matviyenko, the Russian State Duma Speaker Sergey Naryshkin, the Chief of the Russian presidential staff Sergey Ivanov, Security Council Secretary Nikolay Patrushev, Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev, the head of Russia's Federal Security Service Alexander Bortnikov and the head of the Foreign Intelligence Service Mikhail Fradkov, the Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

"The settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict was discussed in the context of Russia’s recent efforts," TASS cited him as saying.

Recall, on the night of April 2 all frontier positions of Azerbaijan were exposed to heavy fire from large-caliber weapons, mortars, grenade launchers and guns. In addition, Azerbaijani settlements near the front line, densely populated by civilians, were shelled.
