Putin urges Russians to eat more vegetables, fish and meat

Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Russians’ consumer basket’s structure should be revised to include more vegetables, fish and meat.

"You are right, this has to be adjusted timely and the basket should be looked into," the head of state said at a meeting with community leaders of Usman.

"Experts say its structure requires an improvement because, I do not remember the exact figures, but the bulk of it consists of potato, fats and all, bread and bakery, while vegetables, fruit are too scarce, fish and meat do not occupy their due place in the basket," the PRIME news agency cited Putin as saying.
