Qatar not to finance Gaza reconstruction alone

Qatar will not finance the reconstruction of Gaza without the participation of other countries, the country's Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, said during the Doha Forum.

He emphasized that Qatar's support would not take the form of a simple monetary transfer.

"As for the State of Qatar, we will continue to support the Palestinian people. We will do everything possible to alleviate their suffering, but we are not the ones who will simply write a check <...>. This is, in essence, our position",

 

Qatari Prime Minister said.

The Prime Minister added that Doha would not leave the Palestinians without assistance should other partners fail to contribute.

Simultaneously, he stressed that Qatar would be prepared to offer financial assistance to the Palestinians, provided that the aid effectively reaches its intended recipients.
