Russia and Turkey discuss bilateral energy cooperation

Russian and Turkish Prime Ministers, Dmitry Medvedev and Binali Yildirim, discussed energy cooperation between the two countries in a telephone conversation, the press service of the Russian government said.

"The sides discussed the implementation of bilateral cooperation agreements reached during their talks in Moscow on December 6, 2016. The two prime ministers agreed to invigorate joint work on major energy projects, including the construction of the Akkuyu nuclear power plant and the Turkish Stream gas pipeline," TASS cited the press service as saying.

The press service added that in the context of expansion of trade and economic cooperation, the sides reiterated their plans to take concrete measures to simplify mutual access of their products to each other’s markets.

In addition, Medvedev expressed his condolences over the recent terrorist attack in Istanbul. Medvedev and Yildirim stressed the importance of joining efforts to counter terrorist threats.
