Russia left without U.S. Ambassador

U.S. Ambassador to Russia John Tefft left Moscow today due to the completion of his diplomatic mission in the country, spokeswoman at the U.S. Embassy in Moscow, Maria Olson, said.

"The plane with him on board took off at 09:00 am," Interfax cited her as saying.

The US Senate Committee on Foreign Relations on Tuesday approved Jon Huntsman Jr as US Ambassador to Moscow. Now Huntsman’s candidature is to be approved by the Senate.

Tefft said earlier that, if approved, Huntsman will arrive in Moscow in early November.
