Chairman of Azerbaijan Union of Cinematographers, film scriptwriter Rustam Ibrahimbekov, speaking with the correspondent of Vestnik Kavkaza, said that cooperation between filmmakers from the CIS countries is extremely important now.
He noted that in connection with the formation of independent states, filmmakers are often limited to their own countries, unable to participate in the global cinematic life. "Therefore, it is very important that, at least in this region, filmmakers from all former Soviet countries engage in joint work and in some cultural events s much as possible. This is a very important goal,” the screenwriter emphasized.
He also said that thanks to President Ilham Aliyev's efforts, Azerbaijan has begun to pay much more attention to the development of cinematography in recent years. "Over the past 10 years, several very interesting films have been shot, which have won awards at various international festivals and competitions," Ibrahimbekov added.
According to him, it is planned to establish specialized educational institutions for cinematographers in the country, so that not only those who have the opportunity to study abroad can receive qualified film education.
