Chairman of the Odessa Regional State Administration, Mikheil Saakashvili, said that Interior Minister of Ukraine, Arsen Avakov, is exercising direct control over armed groups in the country.
"He not only took the liberty of an obscene speech towards me, he dared to make absolutely direct threats to me," Saakashvili said during a press conference. This is a man who exercises practical control over paramilitary units."
He said that the Interior Minister charged him with corruption and abuses of office. Saakashvili added that Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk called him "a touring performer". "I'm not going to get out of here or go anywhere. I won't let them rob Ukraine, which I love so so much," the governor stressed.
He noted he had hit one of the sorest spots with revelations about the involvement of the Prime Minister and his inner circle in embezzlement schemes around the privatization of the Odessa port-side chemical plant. "I don't have any doubts that the Prime Minister is involved in all these schemes," TASS cited Saakashvili as saying.
