Second stage of Black Sea Basin Programme launched in Armenia

Yerevan is hosting a conference dedicated to the launch of the Black Sea Basin Programme 2014-2020 of European Union’s Cross-Border Cooperation (CBC) under its European Neighborhood Instrument (ENI), the Armenian First Deputy Economy Minister, Garegin Melkonyan, said.

“The main goal of this event is to inform organizations working in Armenia as better as possible of the programme-afforded opportunities,” ARKA cited Melkonyan as saying.

The following countries benefited from the second stage of the programme: Bulgaria, Turkey, Greece, Romania, Moldova, Georgia, Ukraine and Armenia.

“The programme budget is 54 million euro. The European Commission is financing the programme, and all the participating countries can benefit,” the official said.

The Cooperation Officer, Delegation of the European Union to Armenia, John Barker, welcomed the EU’s decision. According to him, the first stage showed the projects proved successful in Armenia and beneficial to the region.
