Senator urges CIS not to equate Russian compatriots with foreign agents

A member of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs, Senator Igor Morozov, proposes that CIS countries not equate Russian compatriots with foreign agents.

According to him, there is greater attention to the activities of public organizations of Russian compatriots in neighboring countries, and attempts are being made at the legislative level to apply the concept of 'foreign agent' to them," he said.

"Laws on foreign agents have been adopted in the first or second reading even in Kyrgyzstan, Belarus, Armenia. Perhaps we should propose to our partners some ways of removing Russian compatriots out of this category," TASS cited the senator as saying.
