Sergey Khlebnikov: Heydar Aliyev held in respect among employees of 9th Chief Directorate of KGB

When Heydar Aliyev was a member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, he was held in respect and affection among employees of the Ninth Chief Directorate of the KGB of the USSR, the commandant of the Moscow Kremlin, Lieutenant General Sergey Khlebnikov said, speaking with the correspondent of Vestnik Kavkaza on the sidelines of the press conference dedicated to the 12th International military and musical festival "Spasskaya Tower".

"The Ninth Chief Directorate of the KGB of the USSR was responsible for providing bodyguard services to the highest officials of our state. When Aliyev held senior public service positions, our employees ensured his safety, including the unit in which I served," Sergey Khlebnikov said.

"We are always happy to express our sympathy to our clients, if we really feel it. Our employees must perform their duties professionally, but when you also feel sympathy for a person because of his way of communicating and behaving with people - that's a lot," he stressed.

That's the kind of man Heydar Aliyev was. "Today, since the Heydar Aliyev Academy is taking part in the festival, I can tell you about this," the commandant of the Moscow Kremlin concluded.

Sergei Khlebnikov is a member of the Public Council and one of the inspirers of the International military and musical festival "Spasskaya Tower". This year the festival is attended by the orchestra of Azerbaijan's Higher Military School named after Heydar Aliyev led by Colonel Ekhtibar Aliyev (conductor and director of the orchestra - Major Fariz Mammadzade).
