Silk Road Forum opens in Tbilisi

The Shota Rustaveli State Academic Theater is hosting the Tbilisi Silk Road Forum.

The Forum looks for new ideas for cooperation in the field of transport, energy, trade and human contacts along the Silk Road.

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili addressed the opening of the forum. He recalled that "the ancient Silk Road was the way that unites Europe and Asia."

According to him, Georgia is the ideal platform for such an international discussion. "Georgia is a country that unites East and West, North and South. Our current Forum is a very important step, which will help us achieve this goal," Garibashvili said.

The forum brought together more than 1000 participants from 30 countries. Chinese officials and about 300 large Chinese companies are participating in two-day forum, Sputnik Georgia reports.
