Smoke forces Melania Trump's plane back to base

A government plane carrying U.S. President's wife Melania Trump was forced to turn around and return to an air base in Maryland after smoke filled the cabin, according to reports

The government jet was 10 minutes into the flight to when Secret Service agents leaped up and dashed to the front of the plane. Moments later a thin haze of smoke began enveloping the plane and the burning smell became stronger.

Journalists aboard the plane told how they were given wet towels to hold over their faces, the Sun reported.

The plane was en route to Philadelphia this morning when a pilot was forced to return to Joint Andrews Air Force Base because of what turned out to be a mechanical issue.
