NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that NATO is following developments in the situation in Turkey in connection with the recent terrorist attacks.
"Terrorism in all its forms can never be tolerated or justified. It is right and timely that we hold this meeting today to address the instability on Turkey's doorstep and on NATO's border. NATO is following developments very closely and we stand in strong solidarity with our ally Turkey," he noted.
The North Atlantic Council, which includes ambassadors of all 28 member countries, will convene on July 28 after Ankara invoked the alliance’s Article 4. Turkey requested the meeting "in view of the seriousness of the situation after the heinous terrorist attacks in recent days".
