The Taliban leader, Mullah Akhtar Muhammad Mansour, was severely injured in a shooting in Afghanistan, Xinhua reports.
The representatives of the country's leadership confirmed that he has died of his injuries.
Mullah Akhtar Muhammad Mansour replaced former Taliban leader Mullah Mohammad Omar who was confirmed dead late in July, TASS reports.
