Tatiana Pokrovskaya: rhythmic gymnastics and synchronized swimming - unique kinds of sports

Rhythmic gymnastics and synchronized swimming are unique sports, because only they suggest group exercises, the vice-president of the Russian Synchronized Swimming Federation, the head coach of the Russian national synchronized swimming team Tatyana Pokrovskaya said, speaking with the correspondent of Vestnik Kavkaza.

"Only rhythmic gymnastics and synchronized swimming have group exercises. No other sports has it, therefore it is very difficult," she noted.

"I never say that some sports are easier to do and some harder. I was a rhythmic gymnast myself, and I know how difficult it is, especially group exercises," the vice-president of the Russian Synchronized Swimming Federation explained.

According to her, the concept of "complexity" in sports is very ambiguous. "For example, elite athletes join our team for whom sport is life, they cannot imagine their life without it. In fact, everything is very difficult, because every athlete develops his own criteria for complexity," the head coach of the national synchronized swimming team pointed out.

"Therefore, the sport of higher achievements is already supercomplex, and it's even harder to win in this supercomplexity," Tatyana Pokrovskaya concluded.
