An adviser to the Iranian Oil Minister, Mohammad Taqi Amanpour, said that diplomatic activity in the relations between Tehran and Ashgabat has increased substantially in recent months. Thus, after the visit of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani to Ashgabat, the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, Baymurad Khojamuhammedov, visited Tehran.
Amanpour reminded that currently the two countries are implementing a major gas deal under which Iran can import up to 40 million cubic meters of natural gas per day from Turkmenistan. At the same time they reached an agreement on barter gas exchange to the various products and engineering services.
In addition, Iran has recently passed a package of proposals to Turkmenistan which is estimated at about $30 billion, Iran.ru reports.
