Third of Russians do not have money

A third of the Russian population does not have any savings, TASS reported citing Visa survey.

The survey results say that 34% of respondents do not have any savings, and 21% do not keep details of their budget. 

According to the survey, 63% of Russians prefer to keep Ruble savings in the bank. The share of Russians, who have foreign currency accounts, is law, but still not named in the survey results.

The survey was conducted among 2400 people aged between 18 and 60 years in 15 major cities of Russia.

The head of Research Center for pension systems and actuarial prediction of the social sphere of the Institute for Social Analysis and Forecasting at the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economics and Public Administration, Elena Grishina, speaking with a correspondent of Vestnik Kavkaza, noted that there is low detection rates in savings of the population.

"The population does not have enough savings, so people are forced to draw upon a credit," the expert said. At the same time, Grishina noted that the lack of savings is very characteristic for Russia.

"Only a small part of proportion of the population have savings. Therefore, naturally, during a crisis it experiences significant risks. And if incomes decline, many people may fall below the poverty line," the expert concluded.
