During the visit of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Qatar, the Turkish company BOTAS and the National Oil Company of Qatar signed a preliminary memorandum of understanding on supplies of gas from the emirate to the republic.
This document opens up long-term prospects for the import of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Qatar to Turkey. Previously, these kinds of supplies were carried out in the framework of short-term agreements between the two countries.
Representatives of Turkey and Qatar have already begun preparing the text of the main contract. It will specify the amount and timing of supplies of LNG from Qatar to Turkey. It is expected that it will be signed in the near future, RIA Novosti reports.
