UEFA Europe League final ends in Baku

The final match of the UEFA Europa League season 2018-2019 between two English teams - Chelsea and Arsenal was held at the 70,000-seat Baku Olympic Stadium yesterday evening.

The opening ceremony of the final match took place at the stadium before the game started. DJ, composer and remixer Jonas Blue performed at the opening ceremony. Blu came on stage with 150 local dancers.

The UEFA Europa League final held in Baku was broadcast in 204 countries around the world: 48 in Europe and 156 countries outside.

The final game was attended by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, First Lady, First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva and members of their families.

The match ended with victory for the "blue" ones with a score of 4:1. This victory is the second one for Chelsea in this tournament. Maurizio Sarri’s players earlier won the 2012–2013 Europa League final in Amsterdam. Goals: Giroud, 49 (1: 0), Pedro, 60 (2: 0), Azar, 65-pen. (3:0), 72 (4:1), Iwobi, 69 (3:1)

Arsenal midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who refused to make a trip to Baku for political reasons, did not take part in the final. UEFA has officially assured the player's safety in Baku, however, he has not changed the decision. According to reports in the media, Arsenal are ready to sell Henrikh Mkhitaryan after their Europa League final.
