US understands Turkey's need to interact with Iran, US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said, stressing that the interactions should prioritize interest of NATO members.
"We know Turkey cannot ignore Iran because of geographic proximity and cultural ties. But we ask Turkey, as a NATO ally, to prioritize the common defense of its treaty allies," Tillerson stressed.
