The US Navy has tested its European missile defense system, firing a ballistic missile in the sky over the Atlantic Ocean.
"This was the first time a Standard Missile-3 Block IA guided interceptor was fired on a non-US range and the first intercept of a ballistic missile threat in the European theater," the press service of the US Defense Department said.
The ballistic missile was fired from the USS Ross, which is in the Atlantic Ocean near Scotland.
